Gábor Takács-Nagy rose to fame as a violinist and as the founder of the world-class string quartet that bears his name. He is currently a professor of chamber music and conducting in Switzerland, and he is actively conducting. His ars poetics as a conductor is to bring classical pieces to life in the way they were presumably performed in the composer's time. Driven by this aspiration, he has recently recorded all of Beethoven's symphonies. In this concert, he will pay tribute to the immortal master with two of his works.

This concert will feature works by three Italian composers. Respighi's symphonic poems on Rome are rightly have a reputation as influential concert pieces, however, this tine we will also explore a lesser-known work by the composer. The compositions of Paganini, 'the devil's violinist', present a difficult but rewarding task for their performers.
